Sulzer polymer mixer designed for direct connection to the 2nd stage devolatilization vessel outlet.
Many additives used in the polymer production industry are of low viscosity and are only partly soluble in the polymer stream. Normally, the homogeneity requirements are very high, since the polymer is often pelletized immediately after the static mixer.
Customer advantages

With the Sulzer static mixer, several additives can be admixed simultaneously. The shortest transition time between different grades is reached, if the mixer is installed just before pelletizing. In such cases, additive losses in the upstream degassing sections are prevented.

Sulzer Polymer Mixer with side stream

The high mixing efficiency and the excellent plug flow behaviour of our mixers ensure that the shortest possible residence time is reached. This is important in order to ensure an optimum product quality.

The admixing of the additive with help of our patented side-stream mixer system allows to fulfil the most demanding mixing tasks with an absolute minimum on pressure drop requirement in the polymer mainstream. The additive is admixed in the side stream - boosted with a small gear pump to secure high mixing effects - whereby a pre-mixture, similar to a masterbatch, is formed. This masterbatch is finally distributed with gentle shear forces and low pressure drop in the entire main stream.

Our capability to design the mixer with specially designed elbow sections makes these systems perfectly suitable for existing plants with narrow space situations.
